Emre Doğan
Turkish A1–C1, and YÖS preparation
I am from İzmir and I teach Turkish to two groups: people who have moved to Turkey and need the language for the tax office as much as for friends, and students preparing for YÖS and university entrance.
Turkish is agglutinative and that frightens people for about three weeks. I teach the suffixes as a system rather than a list, so that the twentieth one you meet is a variation on something you already know instead of a new fact to memorise. We work from real Istanbul and Ankara speech, not the careful Turkish of textbook audio.
YÖS preparation is separate and more mechanical: timed sets, the geometry vocabulary that catches people out, and a schedule working backwards from your exam date.
